It’s been a hard few weeks for all of us I’m sure.
We all face uncertainty.
I’ve been hitting the cancellation button constantly, which is a strange feeling as I only hit it for the first time in 10 years on Monday. I have enjoyed hosting families here in Caister for all that time and boosting local businesses by bringing quality tourism to the village.
Thank you to my previous guests, most of you I really enjoyed chatting with. So I hope to be here in future years to welcome returning and new guests but bills have to be paid somehow. When I figure it out I’ll let you all know how...
With the future being so hard to predict and in order to protect my local community I have decided to close the cottage until the 4th July. This date will be moved in line with government advice but I don’t want to be responsible for bringing covid-19 to my neighbours, friends and residents of our fine village.
Despite the financial issues this will create I have decided to refund all guests booked to 4th July in full and will continue to do so as needed. Although my terms clearly state there are no refunds we are all in trouble at this time and my overdraft should cover all outstanding bookings 🤨 It’s not our fault that we are in this situation and we need to look after each other.
Being only 5 steps to the beautiful, sandy Caister Beach my beachfront eco holiday cottages are perfect for a relaxing break. Situated in the old fisherman’s quarter the Victorian cottages are in a secluded but convenient village location with local shops and eateries all within a short stroll.

I lived and worked all over the world before I arrived in Caister by accident in 2007 and it’s now the longest I have lived anywhere! The village has a lovely relaxed feel to it with many local shops including an amazing butcher and award winning fish and chips, friendly locals and a pub for every night of the week. When I first viewed the cottage I couldn’t believe I could live so close to the water and put in an offer without even looking inside! I really enjoy personally welcoming new or returning guests to the cottages and many have become friends over the years. A great guest experience is the most important thing to me and I will always try to ensure you have lovely time offering a truly inclusive environment. LGBTQ+

Dogs are welcome at Caister beach all year round and both gardens are enclosed to prevent escapees. I have taken my dog onto Caister beach twice a day for the last 9 years and love it.
(Sorry, pets not permitted upstairs in the bedrooms, stairgate available)
Caister is a village for those seeking a genuine local Norfolk experience. Relaxed, clean and safe, it is still a place where helpful residents will say hello as they pass and you’ll be sure of a friendly welcome in one of the many local shops. The cottage is in a quiet but convienient village location so park the car in the secure provided spaces and explore all Caister has to offer on foot. The village still has a family owned butcher, fishmonger, supermarket, many good pubs, bait shop etc (you get the idea, lots of local going on...) all on the doorstep.

"Lovely to be so near the sea. A real privilege to see the seal pups at Horsey - a seal even made an appearance near the cottage! Ryan’s fish and chips and the butchers shop nearby are very good James (the cottage owner) was very friendly and helpful. Cottage was warm and cosy especially with a roaring fire. Access road isn’t as bumpy as we’d expected but a little narrow in one place. Our Tiguan was fine. Thanks for a nice peaceful break"

"Loved the cottage. Immaculate and adorable rolled into one complete package. Steps from beach. James, the owner, was great with ideas for our stay. We had just spent 5 days in London and the cottage was perfect for us. Quiet and yet walking distance to shops. We will be back!"

"This beautiful cottage is literally on the beach and is all recently renovated to a nice specification. It has everything you need from a home away from home, it’s clean, well maintained and cosy. James is usually about to help with suggestions of things to do and places to eat locally. His recommendations we tried were spot on, (Ryan’s chippie and the Indian restaurant). We had two quite big dogs and both the front and back gardens were useful and well contained. I can highly recommend it and would more than happily stay there again if I go to Norfolk again. It would be nice to try it in the summer, but it was ok for a winter break, bearing in mind you are literally on the beach."

"Great location, five steps and your on the beach! Lovely listening to the sea at night with the window open. Your located at the end of a lane so you won’t be bothered with passing traffic. Lots to see and do in the vicinity. Recommend Ryan’s Fish and Chip shop ! Only five minutes walk away. Boat ride on the Broads is a must. As is Time and Tide museum in Great Yarmouth. Shame about our weather for our week, but lovely stay ."

"We stayed at Coastguard cottage early June and it really did not disappoint, in fact I would say that it’s better than we could have imagined, which you can rarely say nowadays. The property is homely, clean and has everything you need. The owner was happy to help with anything we needed and very approachable. The property is as suggested right on the beach, which is accessed by opening the back garden gate!! We are currently in the process of booking it again for next year as everyone loved it and it’s a very dog friendly area which was perfect for us and the pooch."
